Update July 2009
Building Improvements and Maintenance
The Car Park was top-dressed with stone prior to the Art Show
Since the last report various minor improvements to the Hall have been made:-
- A hand dryer has been installed in the toilet used by the children attending Playgroup, Mothers and Toddlers and Musical Box. This eliminates the problem of paper towels being flushed down the toilets and causing blockages.
- The light fittings in the Foyer and adjacent Toilets have been replaced and now run on low energy bulbs.
- 2 new tables have been purchased to replace those which were borrowed without permission and not returned.
- A new Urn and new electric kettle have been purchased.
- A heater will shortly be installed in the Foyer (with thermostat and timer) which will be a great help next winter.
Items in the pipeline include:
- Substantial repairs to the Hall floor which is splintering – which may be carried out in August.
- Installation (by Clavering Players and mainly at their expense) of a modern Stage Lighting system.
- Repainting of the Hall as necessary.
- Reupholstering the damaged easy chairs.
- Providing a separate Notice Board in the Hall for the Cub Scouts.
- Improving the “Crash Bars” on the Fire Exits.
Fete
At the Council of Management meeting held on 15 July the Chairman thanked the Fete Committee profusely for their stalwart efforts which had resulted in a record profit for the Village Hall of £6,272.
Hire Charges
These will be increased by some 10% on 1 September 2009 in order to bring the Village Hall income more into line with the current costs of operating the Hall.
Annual General Meeting
The Annual General Meeting of the Village Hall will be held on Wednesday 21 October 2009 at 8.15pm. All Parishioners over the age of 18 are entitled to attend and will be most welcome.
